When nobody thinks I should, when there’s no need to put myself through pain - how do I explain that it isn’t trouble, that there’s only gain. A leisure hike is just that -all worldly troubles are left behind. It is I and the climb, the wind hitting against my face - growing stronger as I climb higher.
But I’m happy to do it alone. Who else but me? Who can be my best companion if not me? I might have to come down soon but for now I am just where I’m meant to be.
And who knows? When another peak beckons, I shall heed to its call to meet my true self again.
